Ashu Jain, PhD

Ashu is a senior water resources and environmental engineering executive with more than 25 years of experience in leading water management, floodplain, stormwater, and environmental compliance programs across academia, consulting, and industry. He combines deep technical expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with executive leadership experience, helping organizations manage regulatory risk, improve resilience, and implement innovative AI-driven solutions for water systems.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jain has directed large-scale water resources projects involving flood risk assessment, climate change impacts, stormwater management, groundwater systems, and environmental permitting. As a former faculty leader at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, he led multidisciplinary research programs, secured and managed major sponsored projects, and developed advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for predictive hydrologic modeling and water resource optimization. He also mentored numerous graduate researchers, including PhD and master’s students.

In executive leadership roles, including Managing Director of AARC Group LLC, he oversaw environmental compliance programs, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, floodplain analyses, and regulatory permitting efforts for U.S. clients. His expertise spans NPDES compliance, SPCC and SWPPP development, floodplain management, drainage design, and resilient infrastructure planning. Dr. Jain holds a PhD, an M. Tech., and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. His distinguished career includes international fellowships, research awards, editorial leadership, and professional recognition for contributions to water resources engineering. He is also active in community service through the Kanchuka Foundation, a nonprofit supporting disadvantaged children and single mothers.
